Activator Award for Young People (14-17 years of age)
Are you interested in gaining skills and confidence to lead and assist in the delivery of your club’s training sessions?
If so, British Triathlon’s Activator Award for Young People could be right for you – a course is planned for Saturday 24th March 2018, venue to be confirmed, and you need to be a member of British Triathlon to take part.
Young Activators will develop the skills to:
- Assist a coach with the set up and running of club activities.
- Lead sessions under the supervision of a coach or PE teacher. This might involve helping to organise an activity within a session i.e a transition skills challenge, leading the warm-up/warm down, splitting athletes into groups in preparation for the session.
- Assist in wider club or school triathlon activities such as volunteering or helping to organise GO TRI events or other competitions.
For further information see the BTF website. If you are interested in attending the course on the 24th March, please email the club at email@example.com with your BTF number to register your interest.

Junior members attended the last race of the Shropshire Young Athletes Cross Country Series today, at Packwood Haugh School. Everyone worked really hard to negotiate a very muddy course – as always juniors were on hand to support and encourage each other.
Thanks to everyone who took part in the series – you’ve made your club proud!
Please spend 5 minutes completing this SURVEY – it’s your chance to have a say about when sessions are run and what works best for your children!

Sounds very grand!
Nothing like jumping in at the deep end for your first proper adult triathlon! At the end of May, I took part in the Sprint event in Hyde Park, along with just over 1000 other men and women of all ages and abilities.
My race took part on Saturday afternoon, just 24 hours ahead of the real stars of the show – the Brownlees, Christensen! What was really special was that the race course was very similar to the 2012 Olympic Triathlon; swim in the Serpentine and bike and run around Hyde Park itself.
As you’d expect, the race was brilliantly organised and there were triathletes there from all over the world, even in the mass events. I really enjoyed the swim and posted a good time (36th fastest competitor) and transition was good. My bike (22k) was a lot slower than some of the faster guys, but I was happy with my 5k run and my overall time left me in 148th place overall and the 4th in my age group.
The result was OK, I know now that I need to work hard on my cycling. However, it was wonderful to have completed the race injury free. It was a great experience, and I’d really recommend it to anyone, whatever his or her level. The beer at the end was very welcome (non alcoholic of course!)
